How about maybe working as a patent agent for a little while first in order to get some experience. Would this help you chances in getting into a decent law school with sayyy a 2.8 gpa with a bachelors in computer engineering technology?

If you want to get experience as a patent agent before going to law school, that's fine. However, others will have to comment on what effect that will have combined with a 2.8 GPA, on getting into a "decent" (whatever that may mean) law school.

If you want to become a patent attorney you might best look at getting into any ABA-accredited law school in the city or region where you might want to live, then use the combination of law degree plus experience as a patent agent to bolster your qualifications for patent attorney openings. You also might want to look into attending evening law school so as to keep your experience current.
