I plan on majoring in engineering at Berkeley and I was wondering if it makes a difference when applying for MBA programs. Would someone who majored in business hold an advantage? How are Berkeley engineers looked upon in the application process? I plan on taking classes in math, statistics, economics, finance, and programming.

Thanks in advanced.

MBA programs look for diversity so they don't want everyone to be an UG business major - in fact, most aren't. From an academic standpoint, MBA programs are looking for top students from top schools. As Engineering is the most selective and competitive program at Berkeley, I think it will serve you best in admission to MBA programs. It will also help you put up high math scores on the GMAT, which won't hurt either.

There are so many engineers applying to the B-School each year. Trust me. one of the majors which will be considered for their diversity commitment is actually Music. Not many musicians plan on getting M.B.A......
