English and Math freshman placement tests?

I haven't noticed anything about freshman placement tests on the website, does Tulane have freshman take these? If so, when are those taken? If not, do all students start with English 101, or?

Thanks!

Here is the text from the catalog under Degree Requirements

[quote]
Students who have not completed the first-year writing core requirement (ENGL 101 or a first-year writing seminar with the course number 119 or presented an appropriate AP or IB test score) by the end of the second semester of enrollment may not early register for the following semester and may not return to the College until this requirement has been fulfilled.

And from the Core Curriculum description:

For math, also from the Core Curriculum description:

Then it goes on to describe the science requirements, etc.

So it looks like the only placement tests they use are the AP tests, otherwise the student has to take one of the basic English courses and whatever math course they feel competent to take and either have the prerequisites for or can get a professors permission, if they really want to skip the basic level.
