English/Foreign Language

I know JHU has a great English department (and would love to learn more about it), but is there foreign language department also strong? Specifically, I am interested in French and would love to minor in it or at least travel abroad to Paris.

Also, is it common for students to double major in English/language and a math/science?

Thanks :)

French is incredibly strong, and is one of only a few French departments (6 or so) in the US recognized by the French government.

Hopkins does have an amazing English department, and is ranked, I believe # 1 or 2 in the area of creative writing. Hopkins also has a wide array of foreign language programs, ranging from the romance languages (French, of course) to Japanese and Hebrew. Especially with Hopkins' outstanding IR program, having excellent foreign language offerings is a necessity. Why don't you contact JHU directly, and they will tell you more about the extensive offerings and programs within the foreign language departments? Also, Hopkins has many study abroad options, maintaining divisions of the university in some major foreign cities. Check it out with a phone call. The Hopkins administration is always extremely welcoming and helpful.
By the way...I second your interest in that beautiful language, as I majored in it in college, and loved every minute of it!

Thanks for your help! I will definitely check out the website'/contact some administrators for more info!

It's definitely well-known... check out the Writing Seminars department too...
