English guy coming to the states - help me out

haha, true true...so uh, how's that Newcastle Brown Ale over there?

my mate loves newcastle brown ale! i think it tastes alot like your american beers - *****ty! hahaha

ahhhh, whats good then? Because around here Newcastle Brown Ale is about as good as it gets. I doubt you have Tooheys over there in England...or maybe even Stella Artois?

"(as by saying you like football, it means you agree that american football sucks and baseball is whack hahahah)"

AH HELL NO. You know, I was gonna drop in, wish you good luck and the likes but NOW? Baseball is whack? You slimey little bastard. I hope you get shanked or something over here.

J/k. But baseball is not whack. American football is shiit though. As for the whole midwest thing...I think people have forgot one little area. Yes the midwest is all farm except for upstate Illinois. Evenston, Rockford, Chicago...pretty cool places. But definately go to NYC and tell me how it is cause my parents suck.

One question though...do your judges still wear wigs? Man, that would be so *****in' if true!

blink 182 hahahahaha im only joking around mate but i stand by my comment that american footy is rubbish!!!!! maybe i need to understand it more, but 30 seconds of play followed by 5 minutes of commercials just isnt my cuppa tea hahah

i wanna get into basketball when i get to the U.S its pretty cool and played alot in england socially.

in relation to the beer thing, newcastle brown is the best you get??? god dammmmn! stella in nice as is kronenborg (sp)

Cleveland, Detroit, Cinci, etc... are farms?

Yes.

Or might as well be.

newcastle is about as good as it gets...at least the most frequent at liquor stores...occassionally you find stella, but not very often. American alki is rubbish...too much light beer with no head. Sometimes the Canadiens bring us this stuff called Unibroue and I've found that to be pretty damn good

Stella is owned by Anheuser Busch.

So it's, like, related to Budweiser. Like cousins.

I laugh.

Are you sure? I couldve sworn it was belgian or something. If Anheuser does brew it, that would be a shame

It is imported, but it's been owned by Rolling Rock Brands (which was owned by InBev). Rolling Rock Brands were recently acquired by Anheuser.

So yeah. Step-Cousins.

haha, damn...somehow its ****en American

REAL budweiser (thai or sommink i think) is the bomb

I hafta get somma that

Who here said the midwest was boring? If this guy is looking for a party school where people don't routinely go to clubs, a big state school in the Midwest is the absolute way to go. Come on, has no one here heard of University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ohio University in Athens, Indiana U in Bloomington?

Another good place to check out, if you don't care for academics, as you seem not to, would be the South. If New Orleans wasn't so messed up I would recommend Tulane.

Real men of genious...

Don't listen to the anti-Midwest sophistry in this thread! The weather kind of alternates between absurdly cold and ridiculously humid, there is nothing really too interesting to do outside of the urban areas, no high brow culture, etc. But that means college kids have nothing better to do than to sit around in their dorm rooms and chug alcoholic beverages, which seems to coincide with most of the OP’s interests. Also your accent will be much more exotic in the Midwest than on either of the coasts, meaning more opportunities to, er, experience America. Also it’s cheaper!

In addition, I highly recommend you go to Compton or Harlem and try out some of your ghetto slang with the friendly locals. That would be fun.
