English homework takes up too much time...

I'm doing my summer homework now and I just took a whole day to read 11 pages... Of course I wrote about 5 pages about what I read too. Is this too much? I mean there are a lot of things you can share your insights about, especially the characteristics of each character. I just like giving examples that contribute to certain characteristics that, in turn, play a role in the overall theme of the piece.

If I'm taking 5 APs this, year I probably won't surivive right? Should I start reducing my time/effort on homework or should I give it my best for the summer homework (to let teachers know I'm a hardworker) and then reduce it as the year goes on? By AP seasons I'll probably be looking off Sparknotes or something.. heh. (At least that's what I did last year)

I just feel guilty sometimes for not meeting up to my expected expectations of teachers. I don't know how I should cope with this. There are SAT IIs I need to study for and there just isn't enough time...

One day = 11 pages? Sounds likes procrastination to me. You just have to be motivated that's all.

lol, I also sometimes use Sparknotes because I'm too lazy to read an entire book. Just be careful and not get caught. It also happened to me!!! (luckily I talked my way out of it)

lol, anyone else have any opinions?

Why would you take 5 APs? This is madness!

11 pages of reading and 5 pages of notes per day is really bad. If you're really working, that is. I can totally understand that if you're working on and off, but if you're trying then you're not in good shape.

For me, when I was doing AP US History, I'd average about a chapter a day, with 4 pages of notes.

a chapter ~ 30 pages (textbook pages, not normal book)

BTW, 5 pages of notes is way too much for 11 pages of a book.

Lighten up on the notes, focus more on the bigger picture and less on insignificant details. Try enjoying it (it's hard, I know)

Yeah, you will want to improve on that..

But I know what you mean. English takes up so much time in my schedule. Last year my english work took more time than the rest of my 5 classes combined... :( Also, I don't even like the subject much...
