<p>Have any of these fancy terms ever been asked in an AP Lit exam? I highly doubt the testmakers will expect students to know such specific literary jargon as "asyndeton" and "zeugma" but that's just my opinion...</p>
<p>You don't have to know all of these terms, but they can be helpful in essays if you can use them correctly.</p>
<p>Yeah, some of these terms I've never even heard before-asyndenton, chiasmus, etc- and they've never appeared on any of the practice tests I've taken. However, as Rhapsody mentioned, it will definitely help if you know these terms and can use them effectively in your essays. </p>
<p>But, yeah. It's important to actually make sure the terms pertain to what the essays ask for. Don't throw in random stuff to sound more educated lol! Moderation's the key idea, I guess.</p>
