English Major? Arts Major? Double Majoring?

A few questions:

1) Could someone tell me more about the English program? Is it great? Is it ridiculously hard? etc.

2) Same with the Arts major - I was thinking either Studio or Film/Photo.

3) How hard is it to double major at Rice?

Both majors are quite small and thus it will be very easy to double major. Film for example, only required 10 classes as a double major.

[Rice University Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts: Film](<a href=“Rice Cinema | Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts | Rice University”>Rice Cinema | Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts | Rice University)

Double majoring at Rice is entirely dependent on major. For example, Chemical Engineering requires 134 hours (as compared to 40 odd for Film) and would be harder to double major with than say Visual Arts. Then again, if you come in with a lot of AP credit and can test out of intro physics etc. a double major is very possible in Engineering and something else.

also, how easy is it to do study abroad? are you still able to double major easily?

It is pretty easy to study abroad. It really depends on where you want to go. You can take in major coursework at certain universities abroad.

You need 120 hours to graduate in total. You can study abroad and get general credits that will not be for your major as well.

thank you :)
