I'm a freshman, and yes, I know it's still a long way ahead of me. The thing is that I am just very terrible at English and want to fix that by the time I take the SATs but that might take away so here I am trying to at least fix the issue. Do any of you guys have any recommendations on books that I can use to help me prepare or at least get better within the critical reading or writing portion of the SATs?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong part of CC)

Thanks!

You could get Gruber’s Complete SAT Guide and do the practices questions/tests in there and look at ALL the answer explanations. Also, for critical reading start memorizing a lot of vocabulary words, if you get the Gruber’s book there’s a 3400 word list which is good to have memorized. Also try different strategies for critical reading, also explained in Gruber’s book. For writing, make sure you know basic grammar rules.

Wait… what? 3400 words? Holy crap.

Also do you have any books for grammar? This is how bad I am at English.

Well, I used Barron’s Grammar Book, and it helped a lot.

There’s several out there…the Powerscore SAT Writing Bible, Conquering SAT Writing, and so on.
