Hello! I am a junior. I expect to have 3 B's this semester. Weighted, my GPA has always been over a 4.0. I have not yet taken the SAT or ACT. I also plan on taking Subject Tests for Chemistry, Math level 1, Biology E, and French.

As for Extra Curricular... I am an athlete. I compete both nationally and internationally for the US. I compete in youth and Pro-division. Unfortunately, it is not a college sport.

Do you think I could get into NYU even though I have had a tough first semester of Junior year?

It’s hard to chance you without some scores. But your GPA worries me a bit, what about your cumulative GPA? AP or IB classes? Your extra circulars worry me too, while you play a sport, colleges want to look for variance and interests. What about intended majors? It’d be good to have a major that’s represented in your activities. And of course, essays and recommendations need to be good as well. Remember to take as much time as you can on your essay(s), find someone qualified to help you edit, and edit many times (upwards of four or five is ideal).
Good luck with the rest of Junior year-it can get real hard.
It depends on the NYU school. Do you want to go to Stern? That’s significantly harder than the rest of NYU.
GPA’s are relatively meaningless these days, with each school having its own scale, its own difficulty of classes, its own competition, etc. Do you know any people from your school who’ve gone to NYU or similar schools? What were their profiles?
By the way you still have plenty of time and you maybe should try to display leadership of some sort- they like that sort of thing in Manhattan. Maybe try to become president of a club? If you’re popular run for class treasurer/secretary/president/etc? Anything that you can spin off as academic leadership on the Common App would be great.
