How hard would it be to be involved in multiple extracurricular activities at Pomona, like say a student symphony, an a cappella group, some community service group, and an intramural sport? Would I have time to do all of these things, or do some of them require too much time? Thanks!

Do them all, my S did varsity sports, intramurals, work/study, some school trips and still did fairly well. He didn't do his work/study first semester to ease into things but in retrospect he feels he easily could have especially since there usually is some time to study in there. Remember that actual in class time is significantly less then HS so you have more time for independent study, research and class readings.

It's doable. Being in the orchestra and an a capella group can be a significant time commitment (the orchestra meets at night for 2.25 hours twice a week) and a capella groups usually meet twice a week during the night as well. Intramurals don't require you to go everytime, if at all, and a community service group will probably meet once a week for meetings and maybe have an activity every week or so too. You probably don't have to go to every meeting/event for that either if you get too busy. I think it's better to try and do everything you want and drop it later (if you get too busy or just end up not liking it) than to regret not doing something and end up with all this extra time during the semester.
