tia,

You can’t double deposit. So… I think if you decide to deposit, go ahead. But you MUST notify U of Mich immediately if you decide to deposit elsewhere instead, and you likely will lose the deposit you have already made to U of Mich. What you really can’t do it make two deposits and wait a while to decide. So be prepared to lose the U of Mich deposit, and tell them immediately if you decide to deposit elsewhere.

Enrolment deposits are not binding. However, your son will not lose his spot as long as you pay the deposit before May 1. There is no need to rush. His spots in the RC and HC are secured. The only benefit of paying the deposit early is for housing purposes. However, HC students are guaranteed housing in a central dorm, so again, there is no need to rush. I would wait until April 10, and if Michigan is your son’s college of choice, pay the enrolment deposit then.

You will not be permitted to sign up for orientation unless you pay the enrollment deposit. There is an advantage to attending an early orientation and these sessions tend to fill up first. Orientation sign up typically occurs in early April.
