Did everyone pay the enrollment deposit mentioned in the letter that came along with the acceptance letter? I don’t know if that deposit has been waived for me. The regular ‘snail-mail’ notification from the finaid office hasn’t arrived yet (I got an email though, there was nothing about the enrollment deposit there too). The ‘deadline’ of the Enrollment Form is on Jan 3. And I believe the financial aid office is closed now… I don’t know what to do, whom to ask…

Hi Sabu. Yeah, my parents paid it but it was a lot to come up with all at once. I think they borrowed part of it to get it in. Anyway, since the FA office is closed then I don't know how they will know if everyone's deposits get there on time or not. But if you think your deposit would be waived because of your financial aid situation then I would just call them as soon as they open again and ask them. If they think you should have sent something in but no one was in the office to tell you that then I think they would have to allow you to take care of it a few days after the deadline. And if you don't need to send any in it's all okay anyway. Don't you need to send in the form anyway even if your deposit is waived though just to tell them you intend to enroll? I can't remember what it said but they probably want to know you are definitely coming and that you have cancelled any applications you have in to other colleges.

You are right about that, but the form requires that you specify if you are paying the deposit or it has been waived. Since I don't know what my status is on the matter, I am in a fix, as I can't send in the incomplete form. When do offices open (in general) after the new year?

I don't know when the office will open again. Is there a message when you call the office phone number that says when they'll open? Anyway, I don't know anymore than you do about this, but if it was me and I mostly expected my deposit to be waived then I would just send back the form with a letter saying you aren't sure if your deposit is waived or not and that you'll try to reach them by email or phone when the office is reopened to find out for sure. I think they will understand your situation and obviously they would like you to come or they wouldn't have accepted you in the first place. If they want some kind of deposit then they will let it come in a little late under the circumstances but I would send the form in anyway with a letter asking about the deposit. But I'm not an expert or anything, this is just how I would do it if it was me so you should do what feels right to you since you can't reach them right now. Actually since it probably takes awhile for mail to get to them from Nepal, you should probably also send an email to them explaining the situation and tell them that your form is on the way just in case it isn't there by Jan. 3.
