Enrollment Deposit

Is it possible to waive it?

I hope it is! I think they’ll inform us if it is when we get the fin aid package (but I’m not sure) any other inputs?

Yeah I’m not sure and I can’t find any information on it. Anyone else?

Im pretty sure you have to send it. Remember even if you get completely covered with FA, there is still a student contribution. There is no way around that and that is way more than the tuition deposit.

Having said that, obviously you will want a 100% sure answer, so you will need to call to confirm.

The FA office will send you a deposit waiver along with the FA package if you qualify. I got one, but like usafa2011dad said, you still have to pay the Student Contribution, so you deposit will cover part of the Student Contribution.

I didn’t even ask for a waiver, but I got a letter from FinAid in the mail letting me know that I didn’t have to send the $400. This was Early Decision, so it was back in December. Yes, USAFA, there is a student contribution of $2370 but that number covers the books and personal expenses part of the COA (aka not the stuff on the bursar bill–tuition + room 'n board).

Good point about that. So i guess as long as part of your aid is not work study, then you would end up not having to pay cornell anything. Your student contribution would just be the portion for all your other expenses, which may or may not add up to what they say.

I hadn’t received my fin. aid and I’m sure I can qualify. However, I already sent in my $400. Will this money be going to my “student contribution” if I turn in the waiver? Or did I already lose my chance for the waiver…

This might be a little late… But just in case anyone is still wondering about a waiver(2016): it exists. I finished my financial aid to do list mid-December and got my waiver the first week of January. Even if you have paid the $400 enrollment fee it will be transferred to your “busar” (whatever that is…guessing it’s the student contribution). Speaking of which the student contribution is now $2,700.
