Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if paying the enrollment fee means you have to attend the college? I mistakenly thought it was an application fee but after I paid it turned out to be the enrollment fee.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you pay it after you were accepted or before? If it was after, it was probably an enrollment deposit, which are usually at least partially refundable. But you can still choose not to attend after paying it, you just have to contact your individual college to see what that procedure is.

Well, I’m guessing it was the enrollment deposit as we received a letter in the mail with the admissions decisions. It says non-refundable but I was just curious if it meant we were bound to the college.

Thanks!

Was this an early decision acceptance?

No, it was a rolling admission school.

It just means you can’t get your money back. It shouldn’t mean you can’t attend elsewhere. Usually you just don’t accept the admissions offer for rolling admissions schools if you don’t want to attend, but since you paid your deposit, I think you might have email admissions to formally decline?

Thanks for the help! I just wanted to know so we can keep our options open. I won’t formally decline yet, but thanks for the help!
