Since Wheaton has a Conservatory, if you attend Wheaton College and play an instrument, like the flute, but are not majoring in music, do you have any chance of participating in any of the ensembles, bands, etc. that are organized by the Conservatory? Seems like auditioning against Conservatory students would be really tough, as the Conservatory students would naturally be so much better, and since they are required to have performance credits, it would make it really tough for a popular instrument, such as the flute, to ever have a chance of playing with them. Just wondering if anyone knows about this.

I go to Wheaton College, so I can help you a little bit. The best wind instrumentalists play in the orchestra, so few non-conservatory students get into that ensemble. However, there are a number of non-conservatory students who play in the Symphonic Band, and the pep band is, I believe, pretty much entirely non-conservatory. For voice, Woman's Chorale and Men's Glee Club also have a number of non-conservatory singers.
