Entering Freshman: Looking for (a) roommate(s)

Hey, My name is Michael. I got admitted to LMU and I received housing application few days ago, so I was filling out application for housing, but I thought I didn't give enough information for them to match me with a good roommate. So I thought I would make a forum to find a better suiting roommate than just randomly getting assigned. You can copy and paste my format of introducing me and use it for yourself. (you don't have to use it, and if you are using it, you don't have to answer all categories.)

here is mine

NAME:Michael Kim

ROOMMATE PAIRING NUMBER:37250

MAJOR: Film and Television (Film production)

ETHNICITY: Korean (international student)

PERSONALITY: Wacky. Random, people say I talk loud, but in general, I will be nice to you if you are nice to me. And even if you are being dche/bch to me, I will try to be nice to you at least in front of you.

SMOKE: I don't smoke, but I can tolerate smell of smoking as long as it doesn't last more than half an hour.

SLEEP TIME: If I eat dinner too late (like 8 or 9) I may fall asleep on my chair and wake up like 4'o clock in the morning. I prefer my roommate to be a deep sleeper because I wake up a lot after midnight, and I might just go outside, but if my roommate wakes up at the sound of the door opening and closing, that's a problem. But usually I have gone bed late like 3'o clock in the morning as well.

PARTY: Not a party guy. I like chilling and hanging out, but I love going to rock concerts.

PRIVACY LEVEL: I don't really care as long as no one is having sex in my bed.

HOW MUCH CAN I HANDLE CRAPS?: I don't make my bed, but I like having my personal trash can with plastic bag in it although I sometimes forget to empty it. I do laundries often because I don't like having a lot of clothings. I can tolerate with dirty sights as long as I am room to walk, although I prefer open spaces. And (this one is important) I hate smell of old unwashed towels and leftover Asian foods. (not snacks, I am fine with snacks.)

LIFE STYLE: I like staying indoor and surfing internet for weird stuff, but at the same time, I love sunshine, camping, and since I am going LA from Seattle, I would like to lean how to surf. Time to time, I work out because one of my life time goals is to stand upside down. But in general I am a skinny Asian boy.

And it would be great if you can also put your dorm choices as well.
Mine is

Hi Michael, this seems like a good idea! I haven’t received my housing forms yet but should soon, might as well start looking now.

NAME: Philippa Adams

AGE: 20 (I’m a freshman - basically I took a gap year and then did a foundation year in the UK - a little complicated I know. After graduating from high school I took a year off to study Chinese at a Beijing university, non-degree level. Then I started my university studies in the UK. I’m doing a one-year foundation diploma in Art and Design, which most UK students have to take if they want to pursue an Art, Media or Design related degree. My plan was to take the foundation then do the degree in the UK. But I changed my mind about where to study so now I’m going to LA instead.)

ROOMMATE PAIRING NUMBER: don’t have it yet, but should do soon

MAJOR: Film and Television

ETHNICITY: Half Asian, half white. My mum is Cantonese (Hong Kong) and my dad is English. I was born in Hong Kong, lived there till I was 12, then moved to Shanghai. I took a gap year in Beijing, and then I moved to Bournemouth (southwest England) to study a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

PERSONALITY: Rather strange sense of humour, and a “good girl,” proud of it too! Very nerdy, and I love love love watching television. I want to work in television rather than film in the future. I hate clubbing and I don’t drink (drinking age in the UK is 18). I can be very shy with a big group of people but if it’s just one or two I like to think that I’m quite friendly and pleasant  I take my studies very seriously and might seem rather timid at first. I’m sensible but I love to laugh, and I’m proud of my international and Asian upbringing :D

SMOKE: Hate the smell of it. Would really prefer a non-smoking roommate please, sorry! Also, I detest marijuana - I’m vehemently against it. I know lots of students take it now and then (some of my friends do and there’s nothing I can do about it) but I have very VERY strong feelings against it. Thought I should throw that out there.

SLEEP TIME: Depends. Usually get to sleep around 11pm-1am. I like getting enough sleep in the evenings; like I said I’m not a partier!

PARTY: I really dislike partying. Sorry if that makes me seem boring! I can handle it once or twice, but I really just prefer hanging out. I get sleepy in the nighttime, lol.

PRIVACY LEVEL: As Michael so succinctly put it, “I don’t really care as long as no one is having sex in my bed.” If you were having sex in your bed, some kind of warning would be nice. I do have a boyfriend (although he currently lives overseas) and my family lives in China so I might be chat on Skype sometimes, but I’ll always respect your privacy if you need to study or sleep early. I also like watching TV shows a lot, but again, I will be respectful and let you sleep if need be.

HOW MUCH CAN I HANDLE CRAPS?: I’m fairly neat. Usually I get kind of messy and disorganised, and once every 1-2 weeks I clean it all up. I can handle messiness as long as it’s not gross and doesn’t stink.

LIFE STYLE: I like staying indoors usually but I think that will change once I see the LA sunshine! I’ve also never been to LA or America, so be prepared for some American n00b-ness. I can’t drive…yet. That might change over the summer hopefully. I go to the gym when I can and I like to cook for myself so I can eat healthy and save money, although I think the LMU meal plan will change that. In general I’m quite mature (I’ve lived a uni life for 2 years now and know how to look after myself) but like to have fun (in a nerdy way! Cards and board games anyone? :D) Hopefully that hasn’t scared anyone off…

As for my dorm choices, I think my first two choices will either be Del Ray South (where the Honours students are - I’m going to be part of the Honours programme) or the all-female dorm…can’t remember its name. I like the idea of living with other Honours students but I also really like the idea of an all-female dorm because I have a feeling it might be quieter.

Anyway, send me a message if I don’t sound too awful to live with, and tell me a bit about yourself  Even if you’re not interested in rooming, say hello anyway, it would be nice to know a few people from LMU before heading over there! :)
