Hello, I am doing my under Graduate In Environmental Engineering. I was Wondering if it was possible to go with a BS in ENV engineering to a masters program In civil Engineering. I would like to Work in Water so i would Do Water Resources but I do not know if its possible, like for example its much simpler to go from civil to Environmental. Would i have to do post back classes
Yes it’s possible. Environmental engineering is very similar to Civil and at many schools both are part of the same department. They often share many of the same undergraduate courses. Look into the Masters programs that interest you and review their requirements.
Water resources falls under the environmental engineering division of civil in many schools.
It may depend somewhat upon which “environmental engineering” program you are in. Some of them are less engineer-ish than others.
I’ve been corrected by my son. He said that water resources is typically it’s own major. He thinks you probably can make that transition from environmental engineering.
Do you want the broad exposure in Environmental Engineering or just specialize in Water Resources?
