Environmental Engineering Travel Opportunities?

I want to travel from country to country to see the ecosystems of the world. I want to see the wildlife and to somehow make an impact on the environment.

Originally my major was Marine Biology and I chose it because I expected to be able to travel to the different oceans around the world and to be able to study the life in the different ecosystems. However, I was told that job opportunities in this major are little and the pay isn't that great so I am now looking for other majors that have better job growth and pay but I don't know what to major in.

I'm thinking Environmental Engineering but they deal mostly with the public and I don't think I'd get to travel to rainforests but rather I'd more likely be stuck near or in a city inspecting the water source which doesn't interest me. Is this true?

I am going to bump this…

There are many flavors of environmental engineering. The ones I am familiar with are related to Civil (sewage treatment etc) and Chemical (air pollution).

We once went on a free Parent Weekend tour to Northeastern Marine center. It was impressive. Their program has study in several different oceans. Not sure about job prospects, but the program seemed really interesting - PSM[/url”>Three Seas - Northeastern University College of Science]PSM
