Does anyone know the difference between majoring in environmental engineering and civil engineering? How closely related are the two majors? What kind of classes do environmental engineers take? What is the average day for someone in a career of environmental engineering? I know I might be asking to much, but I'm really interested in this field and I would like to know as much about it as possible. Any experience, opinions, or thoughts would be much appreciated!

bbumpp?? I know this isn't the most popular major out there but any input would be more than welcome!

In most schools, environmental engineering is a part of the civil engineering department, so you'll take many of the same classes as structural engineers, geotech engineers, construction engineers, etc. In addition to a core environmental engineering class, you'll be able to take some elective courses in this concentration as well.

Some courses that were offered at my school were:
- Environmental & Sanitary Engineering
- Solid Waste Management
- Industrial Waste Treatment Design
- Pollution Prevention or Minimization
- Waste & Wastewater Technology
