Hey guys. I want to major in Environmental Science and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good colleges/universities that have a good Environmental Science program and are really into cutting down emissions, being more "green," anything like that.

THANKS

Since you are in NC, Duke and Warren Wilson are obvious choices. The former is also one of the top 2-3 universities for environmental policy, if that interests you.

It’s always a good idea to see which colleges practice what they preach.

It’s my impression that Yale, Stanford, and Duke are far and away the best for environmental science and policy.

huskem stole my favorite suggestion. The College of the Atlantic offers everything from marine biology to lichenology to biochemistry, with a tremendous amount of flexibility. The college is quite small (~300 students) and situated in a beautiful setting, although it gets a bit touristy in the summer. Here’s a few others to consider, varying widely in selectivity.

State university of New York: College of Environmental Science and Forestry ( SUNY-ESF)

Emory has a strong environmental studies major, but probably not as good as Duke. Duke has a school dedicated to the environment: Nicholas School of the Environment. However, Emory’s program is still pretty strong.

Duke’s Nicholas School seems to be a good fit.

"The Nicholas School of the Environment cooperates with Trinity College to offer exciting educational opportunities to Duke undergraduates interested in the environment (from both a science and policy perspective), in earth sciences, ocean sciences, and natural history. "
