Is the rumor true that a physics or chemistry major is way more valuable than the interdisciplinary environmental science major?
I know it’s important to study what you’re interested in and not go for the money. But I’m genuinely interested in and torn between my current environmental science major or switching to a physical science. I’m only a first-semester sophomore, so I still have time to choose, but not much time.
My current classes are Physics 1 (for physical science majors), Chemistry 1 (for physical science majors), Calculus 2, and an upper-level astronomy course for my astronomy minor.
I’m keeping my astronomy minor no matter what. Astronomy is really what is attracting me to the physical sciences. My school doesn’t have an astronomy major, sadly.
For my junior year, I have to decide if I want to dig deeper into physics, or take Biology 1 and various environmental science courses.
Perhaps I could double major? Or get some sort of geophysics concentration to combine the two?
BASICALLY… I’m just asking which major is more valuable in terms of the grad school hunt, job hunt, money, etc.
