Environmental Studies Study Abroad

For those of you that are majoring/have majored in Environmental Studies, or something around that area, where did you study abroad and would you recommend it? I've heard of School for Field Studies and that sounds amazing. I'm looking for something more focused on the policy/social science aspect of Environmental Studies (specifically cultural ecology/sustanability) and less science-based.

check out SIT programs Welcome to World Learning

This International Honors Program Cities of the 21st Century is heavily focused on environmental issues surrounding developing cites:

IHP Cities in the 21st Century

The intineraries take students to several megacites around the globe. For example, the fall semester includes NYC, Buenos Aires, Beijing, Shanghai, and Bangalore (India).

The IHP programs are sanctioned by SIT mentioned above.

Are these programs very competitive to get into?

SIT is not super competitive that I know of... but most programs seem to be dominated by students at top colleges. I'm doing their renewable energies program in Iceland this summer and going to Mexico with them over the fall. While their Mexico program isn't directly related to environmental issues, you get to work with your choice of NGOs and do a research project which for me will be about water issues.
