Can anyone comment on the intellectual rigor and quality of the Env Studies department? How have recent graduates faired? What do they do upon graduation? What is Mac's competition among LAC in env studies? Thank you.

well, since it’s been so long and no one’s responded yet, i suppose i’ll tell you the little i know. I was admitted this spring and went to a sampler, but will not actually be attending in the fall (not because of their enviro studies, but a myriad of other reasons).

Basically the impression I got was that the program is small, but growing. It’s a new major at Mac, but like everything else at the college is a rigorous program with very enthusiastic teachers and students. You can focus on different parts of enviro studies, usually with a second major to augment the focal point of your studies (i.e. environmental policy = political science and enviro studies majors).

I honestly can’t comment on how recent graduates have faired, but guessing by Mac’s reputation with everything else, the grads are (hopefully) met with respect and appreciation for the quality of the school they attended.

Hope that helps a bit…sorry i don’t know any more!
