Epp

Hello! I was wondering if the EPP programme will extend the number of years of my study at CIT? Or as long as I complete the stated number of units it's fine?

It'll be great if someone could share more about it too, esp if it's a personal experience of being in EPP.

Thanks :)

One of my friends managed to do Materials Science, EPP, and a minor in Technical Writing in four years. I don’t think it’s that difficult to double in EPP or Biomed since both majors are created as doubles, so they know that students are going to be doing a lot of planning around classes.

I see. Is it possible to complete a bachelor’s in ChemE and public policy within 3 years then? I’d like to do a masters in the fourth year. Also, how strong is the EPP programme? Please advise  Thank you!

For an integrated MS degree you don’t actually finish your BS a year early. What happens is you start taking your graduate level courses early while finishing up your BS requirements. That way you graduate with both degrees at the same time.

What do you want to stay around to do the MS in? You might be better off getting your BS in ChemE, a minor and EPP and doing a Public Policy MS if you’re more interested in that route (not even sure if EPP or Biomed even offer integrated MS programs, actually).

I think a double major in 3 years will be a bit overload, though, unless you’ve got a ton of AP coming in and only want to take the bare minimum for both degrees. Most people I know went well over the requirements of classes within their own departments. I think I wound up with something like 50% extra classes taken within the “Restricted Technical Electives” requirements than I needed.

Hmm. Actually my intention was to do my Master’s in another country so that I can get greater international exposure (I’m an international student, btw). Which is why I was wondering if it is possible to do bachelors in ChemE and public policy within three years. Seems like it’s difficult. I also didn’t do any AP. I’ll probably have to re-consider. Thanks though :)

And one more question – how’s the classical music scene at Carnegie? Haven’t seem to have heard much about it so I was wondering.

I know there’s the concert hall just down Forbes Ave., so I’m sure they have things there fairly often. I remember the school/dorms subsidizing tickets, so that’s a good way to get in for cheaper. I’ve also heard of concerts happening in the CFA building now and then where they just play in the halls, but the only one I saw was while dashing from my history class in CFA to my next class.

I’m sure with all of the music majors you’ll find plenty of people interested in performing/enjoying classical music, though.
