After calculating one of the outcomes of my final grades, I think the Professor has made a mistake. I see a B- on the grade report, but it turns out that it should be a B+, which would definitely improve my GPA. The issue is that I emailed both the Professor and the TA about it (writing in a formal and respectful way) last week, but neither of them have responded to my cause.

Are they deliberately ignoring me? Is their a different way I can approach this? I mean, I worked pretty hard for this course, and I want the grade that I deserve.

The more likely explanation is that it’s winter break, so they may not be checking their email regularly or are away doing research. My advice is to wait till the start of the spring semester to email them again (or better yet, go to the professor’s office hours).

For me, it’s not winter break. I started school last week… I think I might just go during his office hours. Are typically the office hours the same for every semester? Eh, I got nothing to lose, so I might as well try it.

The beginning of the semester is a particularly busy time for professors, so your email may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Professors don’t always keep the same office hours from semester to semester - it depends. Your best bet is to check the department website first. Good luck!

Personally, I’d go to office hours first, since I wouldn’t want to sound demanding or impatient by sending a second email. Directly speaking to the professor would probably get you a quicker answer anyway. Also, since you have a question about the calculation of the final grade, you probably want to email just the professor.

Azim13’s suggestion is a good one if you absolutely can’t get in touch with your professor.
