<p>But on essay 3a, the one about the thing you do simply for fun, is it okay if it's not related in any way to your extracurriculars and is about something completely ridiculous with no redeeming intellectual qualities whatsoever?</p>

<p>Umm... I don't see anything in the question which implies that the answer must tie into extracurriculars. The way I read it, they are asking for something OUTSIDE schoolwork, ECs, etc., that you do just for fun. Something you do when you just need to take a step back and... do nothing useful.</p>

Totally okay. Somebody (either Matt or Ben, don't recall which) mentioned that one of his favorite applications wrote about daydreaming for that essay.</p>
