I used to hate Kpop and BTS, but when I got to know BTS, my whole perspective about them has changed me and made a huge positive impact on me. They are now a huge part of my life, because of them and their songs, I have become more of a positive person. I started to love myself and became passionate about dreams and little things in life. Through them I was introduced to a whole new world, I learned about a whole new culture. I started to study their languages as well. I’m proud that I encountered them in my life, their contributions in society also inspired to do good things in life. They have taught me the importance of my life, so I want to write about them on my common app essay. Should I do it? If so how should I portray them in my essay?
You should portray yourself in your essay! This isn’t about BTS, this is about you. You can certainly use this as a vehicle to tell your story, but the point of the essay is to highlight to schools why they want YOU on their campus, not BTS ; )
Thank you for your advice. The last sentence was a typo, what I meant was “how should I portray this topic on my essay.”
My son talked about dancing to Britney Spears in one of his essays. Just make sure that it is about you, not them.
I agree! Talk about them in your essay as you did in this post and how they totally changed your perspective. It’s definitely a quote on quote different topic which WILL make you stand out if you do it right.
