Hey guys. So far, I've applied to USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UCSD. And for my USC essay and for one of my UC essays, I wrote about religion. Now, I'm not religious in that I know exactly what my faith is and I believe in it strongly. I'm exactly the opposite. I'm agnostic, but I think about religion a lot and it is a big deal to me. If that makes sense.

Anyways, my brother who's in college and particularly good at writing liked it, as did my English teacher. And they never mentioned anything about it being risky or rubbing them the wrong way. But my mother read it, and English is not her first language. She didn't know a lot of the vocab words and she didn't completely understand the essay, but when I told her it was about religion, she told me it was very, very risky and I shouldn't have written this essay.

I'm starting to get pretty worried. Can you guys please read my essay and tell me what you think? And on that note, if you have time, can you read the other UC essay I sent, and do you think you can tell me which you like better? because I need to decide whether or not I will build on one of these essays or write a brand new one for the common app.

Thanks a lot guys!

Let me know if you only want to read the religion one or if you want to read both.
