<p>Yes, personal is good (but lit/hist is slightly better) because you can basically say anything you want that relates to the Q.</p>
<p>Make up a name, a book title, or event. Then describe it vividly, and explain how it shows your point of view on the topic.</p>
<p>Yeah I plan on making up a personal and saying my friend did something that supports my thesis.</p>
<p>I've been told personal stories are not the best and to stick with history, lit, or culture. </p>

<p>I swear people make a bigger deal out of the subject matter on the essay here on CC than they should. Vary sentence structure, use obscure punctuation (include a colon and a semicolon somewhere in the essay), etc, etc.</p>
