Essay ideas!

Hi,

I am currently a junior and I want to start my essay earlier. I got some ideas, please tell me which one makes more sense to you.

I moved here from Hong Kong last year, and this year has been very challenging for me. But I did not let “English as a second language” be my excuse of not being hard-working. I did not take any ELD classes and I am taking regular english. I am also taking AP classes to challenge myself. I am also very active at my current school, even I am a new student. I have started my own club and work on some projects within my community. (I know I should narrow it down, but I just don’t know HOW.)

After I came to the US, I have already re-built my leadership positions in one year. (e.g. get involve in various clubs, class council, start my own club…)

My enthusiasm for business - taking classes outside of school, starting the business, internship

My parents’ divorce?? And from their divorce I have become more independent.

I know those are cliche. That’s why I NEED YOUR HELPp!!! Please give me some feedback! Thanks a lot!

Avoid topic 4 it is boring.

I love topics 1 and 3 they are different , and most of the other applicants won’t tell the same story. unlikely clubs and “leadership”

For topic 1, should I just focus on a single experience or my overall growth?

I think you should write about something that shows the true you

What is the main point of an essay? Should I show them my life or what person I am?

You could show how your life has shaped you into the type of person you now are, and how the person you are is set for success. You could also share how your leadership can influence others and lead them towards success.

Topic 3 seems like a good choice since it shows passion and initiative.

Thanks. :)
