I have read nearly every SAT book out there. Some say that you must finish your essay to get a great score, and others say that you don't. So I was wondering if everyone could report how they scored on their essay with brief notes about the length and stopping point when time was called.

For example, I have taken the test twice.

FIRST TIME:
Filled all but three lines
Completed (full conclusion)
Score: 10

SECOND TIME:
Filled all lines
Conclusion was in progress
Score: 11

A) Four Paragraphs
B)Semi-complete conclusion
C) 6 lines left.

Score) 8! :[

Kinda wierd, because i really thought my essay was the bomb. I thought i used great examples, and my english teacher tells me that my writing style is pretty good.

First essay:
a. hmm, prolly like 1.65 pages or something, I'd have to take another look at it
b. decent conclusion
c. 8/12

Second essay:
a. filled all but 2 lines
b. good conclusion
c. 10

my advice.. use 1 or 2 examples, instead of 3. if you use 3, you have no time or space to convincingly prove your point. the examples are all short and shallow. use 2, or use 1 if you have a truly excellent example and can really elaborate on it so much that you can get a 12/12.

completed
four paragraphs
two examples
last paragraph: two sentences
score: 12

ran out of SPACE, not time, so i erased the last five lines and then i wrote really tiny and actually stacked sentences on top of each other. i told my dad this when i got home but he thought i would automatically get a low score.
