There's a website/forum that allows users to post their essays online and receive feedback (essayforum dot com).

If I post my essays, wouldn't my work show up as "plagiarized" on any plagiarism checker like TurnItIn because it's been published on the web? Although it does include your name at the bottom right corner of your work, I'm still afraid that websites like TurnItIn will not catch that subtle detail.

If you've used this website before, can you share your experience? Would you recommend it?

A young friend had her essay lifted from there. She then found that on another forum. Too many similarities to deny. I had previously seen the original and then the filched.

Adcoms don’t, ime, use TurnItIn. Who’s got the time? But, the quality of feedback on EF isn’t great, so why use it? Get someone savvy with admissions to read it- not another hs kid who is waiting to apply.

There is no point in leaving your essays or any other paper work in publicly accessible places like the one that you mentioned. Plagiarism checkers will find it there that’s for sure, but the worst thing it’s that other people will steal your content and then you can’t control the spreading of it. I also recommend you to use http://www.plagtracker.com/ instead, it’s much easier to use and unlike TurnItIn requires no registration or school accesses. I mostly use it to check my papers before checking them in TurnItIn, so this way I know I’m totaly ‘clean’.
