essay question

I'm in the very scary part of my application stages and am trying to write my essay. I am jsut wondering, is it better to write a deep and symbolic essay or sound more down to earth. Please let me know which way you chose.... and how it worked out for you. ;) Thank alot guys.

Personally mine was more down to earth. The best advice I can give you on the essay is write the essay you are most comfortable with and tell them who you are! Don't worry if it is deep or not, just do what seems best to you.

My easy was rather... I don't know, descriptive. I didn't use a lot of metaphor or anything, I sort of just said exactly what happened and how it made me feel. Very, very personal.

Mine was pretty down to earth I think. But it also wasn't very good, in my opinion (at least I think I could have done better if I went another route). So, of course, it's all up to you. I think the ideal strategy would be an essay that starts out firmly grounded in reality (a description, anecdote, etc.) but that doesn't hesitate to dip into the abstract when necessary.
