For question C
[C] Tell us about a book you have read that you found especially challenging, stimulating, or provocative. Explain why it made an impact on you.

I was wondering if it be okay to instead write about an essay that is about four pages. It was a very inspiring essay for me, and I can't simply think of a book I have read that has had the same level of effect it had on me.
Do you think I should just stick to writing about a book just so i won't get penalized?

oops nvm

my bad i misunderstood you since i didn't read it all the way

but anyway i think that that would be fine to do. just emphasize how much it made an impact on you more than any regular books. and like jjjj1234 said below, it would be uncommon+original which is always good

^ No, she means that she wants to write her Umich essay ABOUT an essay that is merely 4 pages long.

sweet-If you can write well on the topic of the essay, you definitely should. Originality will impress an adcom, so by choosing a non-generic text you are already furthering your cause.

Thanks guys for replying
now I am rethinking of using the essay because the essay had to do a lot with my culture, and I had already written about that in the other essays and it might be a little too much for the admissions people.
I have also been fighting with writing about The Secret book. Do you think that if I focused on the spritiual aspect of the book be okay?

i haven't read that book so i don't know anything about it

but i think focusing on one aspect would be just fine. it would probably be preferable actually, because it would help your essay maintain focus and you could explain its impact on you in greater detail

hmmm it seems you've waited a very long time to apply... when do you plan on doing so?
the later you submit your application, the higher chance you have of rejection.
