<p>Last spring I was involved in a very interesting and controversial issue in my community. Without going into too much detail, I led a group that very actively protested a staffing decision that our school's administration had made, and I personally confronted our school's superintendent, principal, and school board. Many teachers, especially the one's writing my letters of recommendation, praised me for my conduct in this crisis, so I pretty much know that it will be in my recs. My question is... would writing about this issue in one of my essays be overkill? In other words, would adcoms get sick of reading about the same thing multiple times in my app? Or might this strengthen my app by making it memorable? Thanks!</p>
<p>PS: The schools I am applying to are, for the most part, very selective (i.e. Ivies, MIT, UChicago, etc.). Not sure if this makes a difference...</p>
