Hi! I'd like some help on picking an essay topic.

1) Writing about my physical deformity and how it affected me.
2) Why I want to become a lawyer. (It's because I have a sense of justice).

I think I'll go with the first one because I feel that the second one is too overused. For the first one, I want to write about how my physical deformity affected me, and how I got over it and changed into a better person.

Nearly every topic can be good. It depends on how you write them. However out of the two no. 1 seems to be the choice that is less used and should have the most impact and leave the deepest impression on admissions officer.

Just start writing a rough draft out for both of them. Sometimes topics that you think are really good turn out to be really hard to write about, and seemingly insignificant or “overused” topics surprise you. It’s not about what you write about, but how you do it.

So write out a very rough draft of each. Just start writing. Then compare and see which one you think is better.
