Essay Topic - What Will You Bring?

<p>My sons had to write an essay for the ISSE test. One of the questions was "You are being sent to space in a rocket ship where you will meet creatures from other planets. What will you bring with you?"</p>

<p>My 12 year old told me what he wrote: "Guns, money and knives."</p>

<p>He got in to all three schools he applied to, God bless him, but it was a good lesson for me in how things can go wrong in an application process.</p>

<p>Well, I guess it's been long enough that I can tell it. You know that box on the Rice app, where you're supposed to put something that appeals to you? D. put in a picture of boiled crawfish. Needless to say, that wasn't what they were looking for.</p>
