essay word limit

Hey guys I know that the combined word limit for the two essays is 1,000 words. Mine is at exactly 1,100 words. Should I shorten it even more? I'm not sure if I can do that without ruining the integrity of the essay. I started with 1,500 and somehow managed to take out 400 words.

Thanks!

I believe you need to continue to edit until you have trimmed the excess 100 words. This demonstrates you can follow direction, are sensitive to the time pressures of the reader. Also if you are submititng online the application will likely force you to stay within the limits. The best writers are fine editors…

1,100 is a bit long. It’s okay if you go over the limit slightly. If I remember correctly the application Website says that going over 10 - 20 words is fine. My essays were a combined 1,020 I think, and I didn’t get any complaints from the online submission system.

While the system might let you enter that much, you really shouldn’t be going over the limit by more than 10-20 words.
