heyy i just finished my u chicago essay. i was kind of worried because, though it sounds good-ish, my essays about a personal matter, which is quite different from the philosophical/intellectual essays i came across in the post an essay thread. Would that disadvantage me? If someones up for feedbacking it, pm me.

Thanks

I did the same thing...don't worry

stupid question, but you did get in right?

many (accepted) students have written essays about personal events. I know I did.

Sometimes an essay that is heartfelt and sincere, but a little clumsy, is superior to an essay with long words and complex theories.

Any shmuck can read The Prince or The Iliad or James Joyce if he has the means and will and write about it. This is not your senior dissertation on the theory of Plato's cave. This is YOU.

Good luck!

Any shmuck can read James Joyce? I beg to differ...

lol

^ Okay, so, that came out a little bad...
(I will be regretting those words in about two weeks)

What I was trying to do was offer advice to someone who felt his/her essay was inferior to the long-winded philosophical/intellectual ones. In my opinion, an honest, imperfect person is just as desirable

I agree with what you said... I just found the choice of words ironic :)
