Essay

So it's not that I'm a slow writer or anything, but I wrote like ten drafts for the common app essay and scrapped them all, but I came up with one that I like and I was wondering if anyone would take a look at it. It's only the first paragraph, and I know it's not the UofC one specifically, but I like ya'll and trust you guys to give me the best constructive criticism etc etc.

Anyways, if you want, I can pm it to you. One of my main concerns with what I have so far is wordiness. I like description and sometimes I get a little carried away. Like one of my sentences uses a disgusting amount of alliteration, although I still giggle when I get tongue-tied trying to read it xD

Anywho, would anyone be interested? Also, I'm not sure if it's as focused as it should be. I had another paragraph before that, but I felt it was too blah and only held my writing back, and that it was sharper without it...so yeah, without further ado, feel free to reply :]

oh man. I went through multiple essays too, but I’m back at square one for the common app. So much for starting early. I feel like being done in one month is a quickly diminishing dream.

PM it over litlhurry, I hope we’ll both make it through!

Alliteration is great! Kyle says keep the alliteration (unless it does really hurt your essay). I like to randomly add alliteration to my writing and conversations. It entertains me. (Arg, I probably should have added alliteration to this post, but I’m too tired to think :D)

Anyway, I would help revise your essay, but I am also a 2014 applicant so you probably don’t want my opinion. Good luck!

Full disclosure: I am a '14er applying to UChicago EA.

That said, PM me. I’ll read it.

And I like alliteration way too much too…

Check my post history to see if you feel comfortable sending me your essay.

Sent guys! Anyone else?
