Essays Not Focused on Finances

Hi all,

I applied to be a finalist in the 2016 QuestBridge College Match program. I understand QuestBridge encourages applicants to write about their disadvantaged financial situation. My essays were focused on a family obligation, and an extracurricular. I explained how these obligations impacted my character, but they did not really touch upon the financial aspect of my life. Would this leave me at a disadvantage when QuestBridge selects their finalists?

Thanks.

Hey @noobforce QB actually says they don’t want both essays to show same thing they prefer each essay to show a different side of you and if you don’t they considered it a missed opportunity so in answer to your title question your essayS don’t have to be on finances it would’ve been if atleast one of them had touched on but really if you went into how your family obligation was a challenge circumstance that should be enough the essay is basically supposed to show that you didn’t let difficulties get in the way of your academic success and goals so you’re fine…hopefully you showed enough financial difficulty by filling out the income and maybe additional info boxes
