ESSAYS THAT WORKED

Students-

What was your essay topic for the common application and also the supplements (for business specifically)? Any tips on what worked/what didn't? Looking for ideas to brainstorm

It would be inappropriate for people to share their essays. Those are personal experiences and feelings. The whole point is to let them get to know YOU. I see that you’ve posted the same thread on different colleges, but colleges want to get the feeling that you have an interest in them and aren’t just copying and pasting what you will send to UVA, Cornell, etc.

Spend some time. If you truly like Lehigh, you won’t have any problem putting words together.

Your high school English teacher will help you with essay fall semester. Your Guidance Counselor or favorite teacher can help you. Ask your teachers what they think are your strengths. They will know how to help you.

Do not let an adult write your essay. Let someone help you with grammar and basic editing but the work needs to be yours!

Our son would not let us help. The experience he wrote about was very interesting and unusual. It was a job he had that put him in a very stressful situation not many experience. It wasn’t really written that well. But hey, he wanted to be an engineer. Lehigh knows most engineers don’t have the strongest writing skills.

Admission officers know how an average high school kid writes. They also can tell right away when an adult has written or rewritten an essay. They do not like that. It will harm you more than help you. Good luck!!!
