Esther Problems

Instead of easily uploading my transcripts and secondary school report through the common app website, my counselor decided to physically mail off these documents. Now, when I log into my Esther account it says that Rice has not received my transcripts or my secondary school report. This has really began to worry me because I applied early decision and the deadline for everything to be turned in was Nov. 1, but I received an email from Rice stating that I had until Nov. 15 to have these missing documents turned in. I have confirmed with my counselor that she did indeed send my missing documents off to Rice, but through the mail and not through the common app. My fear is that Rice will not receive these documents on time and all the hard work I put into getting my stuff in on time will all be for nothing because my counselor made mistakes sending my missing documents off.
Has anyone else been in a similar predicament like mine? Could it just be that sending in documents through the mail versus sending in documents online takes longer, thus taking it longer for Esther to update my documents?

You can fax hard copy document to 713-348-5323 so that it will arrive on time. The real copy can arrive to Rice probably later.

You can call them as well. Just ask them if it has arrived and if they have not updated ESTHER yet. With the volume of paper they get, it takes a while.

Good luck!

My son is applying to Rice / Baylor ( Regular) and the deadline is Dec 1. He got confirmation that his common app was received, but have not got his online ESTHER? id.
I guess ED is consuming admission people, but I am not sure if he should call RICE next week as the deadline looms.

Call them this week.

The admissions department is very open to answering questions. Just ask them if they could verify that his ESTHER account was mailed out. If so, can they resend it or give it to you via email.

The sooner the better. It cannot hurt to ask!

Thanks, I will ask him to do that.

Cool. If they do mail it out again, it may take some time. ESTHER also takes a little while to be updated. You could also verify that all your documents were received. One of my recos or something got misplaced, so I had to get it faxed in.

Good luck!
