assuming your estimates are correct, that looks like a 29 to me.

@peterfig95 - I’m guessing anywhere from 28-30.

The curve is usually based on how hard the questions are.

Almost always, a 36 means 0 wrong. Reading tends to go down normally (-1 = 35, etc.), while Science is a lot harsher (if you get the same amount of questions wrong in Science as in Reading, your Science score could be 2 points lower than Reading). For Math, it’s usually goes down normal, with the leniency kicking in at around 30. English it’s hard to say, but since there’s more questions, you can get more wrong and get a higher score.

does a 35 act offset a 3.7 unweighted (yet most difficult schedule possible) gpa? (good ECs/recs/essays/leadership)

@liv4physicz: What’s the weighted GPA?

like at least a 4.3. without freshman year, its like a 4.6.

liv: Doesn’t seem like you have much to worry about… also it’s only like you and me on the forums hehe. If you want, I can compare your GPA and ACT to kids in my school for the colleges you are applying to.

sophomore and junior years is a 4.56 W, 3.87 UW. all 3 years is ~4.3 W, 3.7 UW

ooohhh yeah good idea. so should i tell you my schools then?

Michigan (in-state)
Northwestern
Notre Dame
Chicago
Carnegie Mellon (legacy)
Penn/MIT (haha worth a shot)

I’d be over the moon with Northwestern, and same with U of M, so those are my main concerns.

(girl in engineering)

Sorry it took a while… I accidentally clicked a bookmark while typing -_-

Edit: Seems like you’re good for all but the last two. When I saw those results I was shocked…

omg thanks so much! this is very helpful! so these are weighted GPAs? and did you say this is data from your high school?

haha, Michigan’s average ACT is a 39? and yup, I meant University of Chicago with “Chicago.” and umm, what’s with the Notre Dame? lol. maybe that kid did something like amazing, or is a seriously devout Catholic? do you think colleges cut special needs kids slack, or do they assume they wont be a good fit?

Oops, I’ll fix the Michigan thing. And the Average information is overall, the Best/Worst is my school. And I have no idea, it’s an outlier (to sound like a nerd).

hahahaha. your school releases data like this!? are you a junior?

Yes, I’m a Junior. And our school uses a college service site that records this data, which I in turn enjoy sharing with CC.

i enjoy you sharing it with me!! haha. your school must send lots of kids to ivies/top schools then, i presume. where do you want to go?

Not really for Ivies, maybe 1 or 2 each year. But overall I think our school is above national average, and definitely state average.

I honestly have no idea, but lately CC has been inspiring me to stop being lazy and start seriously looking.
