When I look up the cost for attending 1 year, Google gives me a figure of around 63k per year. Is this accurate? Because I got a bit more than that in financial aid and I’m honestly not sure why I got more than the expected cost of attending.
Sorry if I sound pretentious, I’m just confused about financial aid.
Harvard’s NPC will look similar in detail to your actual award. It will give Harvard’s scholarship, your parent’s portion, even if zero, and the student portion from term work and summer/savings. It seems every student is expected $1500 per term which I think is good. Harvard uses $3,991 as personal expenses in their total cost. This figure includes books.
@gibby
I never claimed the policies are different, but I claim that the Cost of attendance is slightly Higher for us, because of 2.2k travel costs and almost 4k in Health
Insurance. Im not complaining, I got very generous package, just informing about my total cost estimated by Harvard
@MeHowPL@gibby As an international student in her senior year I can attest that the expenses for international students are higher, but then so are the budgets upon which FA is based. That said, many international students have issues regarding their travel budgets (as do some domestic students from less-well-served places). To get the best fares (and not exceed your allocated budget) you need to purchase your tickets well in advance and this usually isn’t possible given exam timetables etc. I’ve spoken to Financial Aid several times and all they could suggest was to look at other routes.
At a meeting earlier this year, many international students admitted that they resorted to credit cards etc., to cover these and other expenses. Indeed, many domestic FA student do incur student loan debt to cover shortfalls in their FA budget, albeit the College estimates this to amount to no more than $12K over 4 years.
