hi, so I’m most likely going to Tisch, but I just wanted to clarify something. when I log into Albert and click on financial aid summary, then “estimated cost of attendance”, it says $77,802 / yr for the 2017-2018 year. One of the categories is Housing and meals - does this only include the school meal plans + housing costs, or does it also take into consideration the approximate amount of money students might spend on food outside of their meal plan?
also is this $77,802 / yr not taking into account daily living costs? by that I just mean personal items, entertainment, clothing, etc.
The estimated cost of attendance includes the school meal plans and housing costs, and also includes a small estimated amount of what you’ll be spending on personal items and such. Obviously the personal expenses estimate is just a rough guess, so you could be spending more or less depending on your spending habits or special circumstances and whatnot.
@koreanstudent okay thanks! I was just a little bit worried that the $77,802 per year didn’t include personal living costs - since tuition is already crazy expensive!
@indiahyland - the estimate is pretty close, including personal expenses such as Metro passes, etc.
For us, the annual cost was a little more b/c we factored in the cost of 4 round trip flights from home (which is stupidly expensive because we are not in a major metropolitan area) - that includes flights to move in & move home, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break. Lots of kids don’t go home for Tgiving or Spring Break, so that would make a big difference. Where they really get you is that freshman year meal plan requirement. I’m excited we won’t be buying a meal plan at all next year.
