I am not a minority (white) and my mother got a degree after ten years of taking classes here and there. Should I not even have hope that I will be chosen as a finalist?

Well, I’m white too. I think it really depends on just how low-income you are. If you make about 60k, then yeah I wouldn’t try. However, if we’re talking 40k and below, then I think you should give it a chance.

I’m still going to try. But, it’s eh. Perhaps you and me both should have our common apps and essays filled out, just to be safe :/

I’m not a URM and my parents have college degrees but I still made finalist status. Most people like me do not get matched in December, however.

ALL QB applicants should have those ready. Your chances of being matched are slim no matter what your ethnicity or income.

My mother works two jobs and made about 37k. Are you allowed to look at your completed application even after the September 30th deadline (so you can copy and paste some information)

Yes, you will be able to access it, but I’m not sure what you would want to copy and paste? If it is essays, just save them to your computer. You will not be able to edit after the deadline however.

^^muffinish, what made you stand out, if you don’t mind me asking?

And, zulatooka, I’d say you still have a chance.

Thanks, I am relying on my teacher recs and essays for the most part. I was just wondering if there was a stigma about a lower-middle income white guy getting Finalist status. Secondary school report may even help; every administrator at my school of 1000 (10th-12th) knows me.

^^I PM’d you, nattilee
