Ethnicity question? Does this count?

<p>Does Malaysia count as a Pacific Island on the common app? I'm sure it's far more advantageous to check the pacific islander box than the asian box ... and Malaysia IS an island (partly) in the Pacific... so it should count, right? What do you guys think- will the college admin officers disapprove? </p>

<p>I’m Asian, and when I checked off the box, a list of countries that the Common App considers “Asian” countries showed. So I’d check both Asia and Pacific Islands. If Malaysia is under Asia, check off Asian, but if it’s under Pacific Islander, check of Pacific Islander and then Malaysia.</p>
