People say that college is more competitive for an "asian." However, when people say this they usually are talking about themselves as chinese or Indian. Would someone from Sri Lanka be considered in this category, or would his chances increase for diversity purposes?

It makes sense because I’ve not met a Sri Lankan in my life

So you think it would be easier for applying? It is just south of india but would I be considered one of “them”.

Ofc not I’m Indian and I can definitely tell the difference between Indian Pakistani and Sri lankan

That reply is in your favor , I mean it could be easier from my pov

Maybe if you specified Sri Lankan or checked Other and then explained, or if you were born in Sri Lanka that would definitely be considered diversity…

bump, anyone elses opinioN

If anything, it will be easier than if you were Korean or Chinese but otherwise, it won’t help you that much. Go ahead and put it though, can’t hurt

i don’t really think putting sri lankan will make a huge difference one way or another, but like cortana431 said, it can’t hurt.
